-child shows understanding by responding appropriately

-ask children to recall and add details to expand their responses while engaged in activities during read aloud time.

 

IID.2

-demonstrates understanding instructional language in the classroom

-Vocabulary
-children will be able to successfully use new vocabulary taught from read alouds in their daily conversations

IVB.1

-child uses letters or symbols to make words or parts of words

-children will use different mediums while learning to form letters of their name
-use magnetic letters to create name
-sort letters in name/not in name

   

-Read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom
-students will identify rhyming words in the story
-students will make a chicka chicka boom boom tree with foam letters spelling out their name going up the tree 

   

-students will count to see how many letters are in their name
-student will graph on an anchor chart how many letters are in their name
-we will identify who has the most letters in their name, who has the least, who has the same amount

Child sorts objects that are the same and different into groups and uses language to describe how the groups are similar and different.

-use manipulatives to sort by color

-sort  manipulatives by kind

VA.9

Child recognizes one digit numerals 0-9

-rainbow write Numbers 1-5 using various writing tools

-find number 5 among other numbers

VA.2

Child uses words to rote count 1-30

-Count orally 1-15

-Sing counting songs 1-15

-count objects, steps, fingers etc. 1-15

-walk around room counting to 15 see where 15 steps gets us to

VA.3

Child counts 1-10 items with one count per item

Use fall manipulatives, pumpkin seeds, leaves, etc.  to show correct number of objects (1-5)

-put correct number of manipulatives on numbers 1-5

Child names at least 20 upper and lower case letters

-Children will learn letter J, and recognize it in words, and books

-Recognize Letter “j” and hear the “j” sound in words

-Pick letter “j” out from other letters.

Child can recognize rhyming words

-students will match pumpkins to create a rhyming match

   

-Read It’s Pumpkin Time
-students will help sequence the life cycle of a pumpkin using pictures
-students will create their own life cycle of a pumpkin
