With the end of the Quarter on October 22nd, all subjects will  be having Quarterly Assessments between October 12 - 21.  Be looking for exact dates in our weekly emails.

Reading:  We will be focusing on non-fiction texts this month during our Daily Reading Ready passages and our homework books.  We will be learning about print and graphic features that authors use to help us comprehend.  We will continue to discuss Author’s Purpose & Message as well as using Context Clues to help with vocabulary.

Math:  We will begin having math fact practice homework this month. It is important that students practice writing these facts as well as practicing them on Reflex. There will be half a page of math facts each day Monday through Thursday. The goal is to move students toward memorizing these facts. I would like for parents to say the facts out loud and have students orally say the answer to you on Thursday’s, after having the week to practice them.

Science/Social Studies: We will be learning about the different forms of energy and how they are used in everyday life.

Language Arts:  We will be focusing on nouns and subject/verb agreement in grammar.  We will continue to work on writing personal narratives and editing them.  We will focus on the specific parts of speech when editing our writings.  We will also continue to work on cursive lowercase letters in handwriting and writing words without picking up our pencil to create the words correctly.
